COS Safeguarding Policy

COS SAFEGUARDING POLICY

Colchester Operatic Society recognises that we have a duty to safeguard all our members and participants including vulnerable adults and children.

Safeguarding children

Because we run a junior group (known as CO2) and sometimes have children cast in our main shows we take safeguarding their well-being and safety seriously and have appointed committee members in charge of this (known as Youth Liaison Officers or Safeguarding Leads), who also organise chaperones for the children involved at rehearsals and during shows.  We have been inspected by Essex County Council during show runs and have been successful in adhering to all procedures that we are legally obliged to in order to safeguard all children involved with our Society’s productions.

You can find out more information about Essex County Council procedures and guidelines for children in entertainment on their website here: https://www.essex.gov.uk/children-in-entertainment

Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

COS recognises we are responsible for the welfare of known vulnerable adults aswell children, and ensure appropriate safeguards for these people are put in place as necessary.
