Sound of Music update from David King 19/12/13

Dear All

As we enter the final month prior to the show we still have a lot to do.
I don’t mind admitting that I was very disappointed with much of what happened on Monday as a lot of it seemed to have taken a backward step.
We had a rehearsal with the children in the previous week when we had rehearsed all of their scenes and these had come on no end – there was a real look of the disciplined family about what we did – much of that seemed to evaporate.
We had also had a music only rehearsal for the adults where Neil had worked hard and got you all producing a terrific sound -. that was not in evidence on Monday either.
All that said there have been occasions where all of it looks and sounds terrific. it is a question of getting that situation for all of the time reliably.
So we now have a break and we start back with the Children, at The headgate Theatre at 7pm on Tuesday 2nd January
There are then rehearsals at Montgomery for Act 1 and Act 2 on 6th and 9th respectively
these are full company calls – maybe with the exception of some chorus men on 9th?
My aim is the run the whole show twice on Sunday 12th – these are definitely full company calls –
Rehearsals on 13th and 16th will be arranged later but please keep them free.
Please would you all now give complete commitment to the rehearsal process – it is not just what you do as an individual but the effect that you have on others around you.
No books at all from the next rehearsal onwards and get that Latin learned please ladies
Thank you to those of you who have given solid commitment, it is appreciated. Meryy Christmas to you all and see you bright eyed and bushy tailed in January
Finally, I have written some notes on Monday’s rehearsal (see below).
Please read them and try to take on the bits that are relevant to you.
Thanks
Dave
